Spotlight on Diego Teijeiro

Diego Teijeiro Ruiz is the CIO at H&M Group and a Governing Body Member of the Nordic CIO Community.

Before this role, Diego spent the last 20 years at Inditex in several roles related to technology. He focuses on simplicity, speed and execution.

Give us a brief overview of the path that led to your current role.

I started at Inditex launching their first Cyber Office. Then, I moved to roles more focused in relationships with the business to define the tech foundations for Commercial, Product, Store, Supply Chain, reporting, sustainability. In 2018, I was appointed CDAO to transform the way we managed data and analytics. In 2026, I moved to Stockholm and H&M.
 

What is one of your guiding leadership principles?

Autonomy to execute with Ownership, Accountability and Creativity.
 

What is the greatest challenge CIOs face today, and how are you addressing it?

Learning the culture... little by little.
 

What is the key to success for someone just starting out as a CIO?

Focus.
