Give us a brief overview of the path that led to your current role.

I've served in various global HR leadership roles at Fortune 500 companies in life sciences and healthcare (Monsanto, Elevance Health). I've also consulted with companies going through significant global growth and organizational transformation across sectors like automotives, chemicals and biologicals. In addition, I serve as the Vice Chair of the Board at New American Pathways a nonprofit that supports refugees in Georgia and am a member of a couple of startup advisory boards for AI startups.

What is one of your guiding leadership principles?

A leader's role is to create and channelize energy in the organization.

What is the greatest challenge CHROs face today, and how are you addressing it?

As the global HR leader of an organization with a large frontline workforce, elevating the workforce experience for a dispersed workforce and driving talent retention are key priorities for me. We are addressing it through a variety of initiatives enabling retention like launching gamification of recognition through technology, leveraging an attrition prediction model and reimagining our new hire experience.

What is the key to success for someone just starting out as a CHRO?

Building strong relationships with your peers, the CEO and the Board early on is a critical priority to enable success in the role. In addition, spending time with your frontline employees provides a great ground up perspective of real-world challenges and opportunities.

How do you measure success as a leader?

I look at my impact in terms of the people I've developed in my career. I've seen great leaders who model, mentor and multiply talent, and that is one of the lasting legacies of someone in a leadership role.

What is the value of being a member of Gartner C-level Communities?

I value the access to insights from Gartner and the collective perspective of an impressive group of peers!
