SVP, Data Innovation
Banc of California

I'm the Head of Data at a mid-sized bank, where I focus on building modern data platforms, strengthening data quality, and enabling better decision-making across the organization. My background spans data engineering, governance, and analytics, with a strong emphasis on translating business needs into scalable data solutions. A fun fact: I'm a thrill seeker outside of work and enjoy rock climbing and mountain biking whenever I can.

Give us a brief overview of the path that led to your current role.
I've spent my career leading data strategy across multiple organizations, where each role came with a different set of challenges and priorities. Across those experiences, I consistently saw how powerful data can be when it's trusted and intentionally used to inform decisions.
What is one of your guiding leadership principles?
You're only as effective as the team around you. My focus is on empowering people, building trust, and clearing obstacles so they can do their best work.
What is the greatest challenge CDAOs face today, and how are you addressing it?
AI is moving fast, but without a strong data foundation, it's hard to generate meaningful or scalable value. My focus is on building the foundation so we can enable faster insights, adopt AI responsibly, and turn innovation into real business impact.
What is the key to success for someone just starting out as a CDAO?
The key to success is building the right team and earning early buy in. Surround yourself with strong leaders, align closely with business partners, and establish trust by delivering quick, meaningful wins. When the people believe in both the team and direction, momentum follows.
How do you measure success as a leader?
I measure success by how well the team works together, how enabled they feel to do their jobs, and whether we're making consistent, meaningful progress.
What is the value of being a member of Gartner C-level Communities?
