Economic Outlook for CIOs & CISOs
Carsten Brzeski
Global Head of Macro Research & Chief Economist Eurozone
ING
After the initial rebound in the third quarter, what shape will the subsequent economic recovery have? With continuing social distancing and the possibility of local lockdowns, the structural nature of the crisis has begun to emerge and the risk of a double dip in the Eurozone economy has increased.
For some, COVID-19 has become the accelerator of structural transitions. For others, it has become an unexpected shock leaving organisations fighting for survival. However, the swift and proactive reactions by governments and the complete U-turn on fiscal stimulus – from austerity to spending – gives hope that investments and structural change can be supported by fiscal policies.
In this keynote, Carsten Brzeski will share his view on:
- The short-term economic outlook in the Eurozone and globally
- The longer-term economic implications of COVID-19
- The projected impact on enterprise organisations and their IT and security functions

Organisations are feeling a shift in the world of networking and security as they rapidly adopt and embrace the cloud. On-premises private data centres are no longer the place for data and workloads to exist. With this shift, security and networking are brought closer than ever. Enterprises need speed, visibility, security and reliability without compromise. Enter, the secure access service edge, better known as SASE. This evolved concept of cloud security architecture outlines a convergence of multiple security functions to offer identity-based secure access. How can your organisation best position itself for the transition?
In this session, join EMEA CISO Neil Thacker for a fireside chat moderated by Paolo Passeri as they discuss:
- Problems SASE can address in the modern enterprise
- Benefits of moving to a SASE architecture
- Insights from organisations adopting SASE today

Proofpoint
Adenike Cosgrove
Cybersecurity Strategist

As 2020 changes the way we live and work, cybercriminals are adapting as well. With a large proportion of the global workforce now operating outside the office for the foreseeable future, organisations around the world are at a greater risk of cyber threats than ever before. Increased reliance on cloud systems, coupled with potential financial pressure, job insecurity, unfamiliar circumstances, and the general anxiety of a global pandemic have created a perfect cyber storm – and cybercriminals are taking advantage of the situation.
In this session, Adenike Cosgrove, Cybersecurity Strategist and Andrew Rose, Resident CISO, EMEA for Proofpoint, and award-winning CISO, examine the biggest challenges security leaders face, and why a people-centric approach to security is everyone’s biggest opportunity to better protect their organisation.
Join us to learn more about:
- Why social engineering dominates today’s cyber threat landscape
- How remote work and the move to the cloud has changed the nature of threats
- The ways in which organisations are building controls to better understand and protect their employees

The current crisis and period of instability has demonstrated that the IT function, more than ever, has to deliver tangible business value. However, when it comes to managing IT investment, there is still not enough fact-based information available to enable CIOs to optimise their IT investments and communicate their strategic decisions with their customers/business users. Data center or cloud, projects or products, applications or services – how do you navigate this increasingly complex IT landscape without connecting the cost to value delivered in a granular, understandable and data-driven way?
Join this CIO Virtual boardroom to:
- Learn how successful CIOs have transformed their IT investment strategy with fact based real time insights
- Use multiple existing data sources to inform decision making and the business
- Fuel transformation investment with accelerated visibility beyond the basics, whilst promoting a culture of accountability

Change Leadership & Inspiring Crazy Loyalty with Chris Laping

Unfortunately, we often hear stories and jokes that suggest IT and security are not seen as equal to “the business.” The reality: they have an opportunity to drive game-changing outcomes that inspire “crazy loyalty” in the communities they serve—which can result in a powerful brand for themselves as technology professionals. In this discussion, Chris will focus on the fundamental mind shift that IT and security leaders must make to evolve their role and become transformative change leaders.

Conducting business virtually makes it more challenging to meet and network with like-minded peers. During this time of disruption and uncertainty, it’s become even more critical to collaborate with peers who are facing the same challenges.
Now, we are bringing you the opportunity to set up 1-to-1 meetings in a private, virtual setting with community peers directly after the Virtual Executive Summit.
- Peer-to-Peer meetings are 25 minutes in length, giving you the chance for more personal interaction and in-depth conversation with your fellow Benelux CIO & CISO Virtual Executive Summit peers.
- All conversations are private and will not be recorded
- Meet up to 3 peers based on your shared interests or priorities
