Give us a brief overview of the path that led to your current role.

I grew up in financial services, initially in bank operations. I joined Bank of America’s Operations Management Training Program in 1996, where I was able to rotate through multiple departments. I eventually found my way into Investment Bank Operations and moved into finance, compliance, and technology roles before settling into data 6 years ago.

What is one of your guiding leadership principles?

Set high standards, attract and retain amazing talent, and put a lot of effort into executing on behalf of your customers.

With disruption being a key theme of the past year, where do you see your role as a CDAO going in the next 1-2 years?

I see Digitization as the most important strategic initiative for the next two years. The CDAO is positioned perfectly to drive firm-wide digital adoption in the front, middle, and back office.

What advice would you give to someone just starting out in the role as a CDAO?

Work with your key stakeholders, executive committee, and board to jointly establish what organizational needs your role has to meet; then ensure you and your team deliver on those needs. Also ensure to effectively communicate the challenges, the benefits, and your outcomes.

Tell us 3 fun facts about yourself.

  1. My wife, daughter, and I are huge Hallmark movie fans.
  2. I believe Boston Terriers are hands down the best animals ever created.
  3. I have exceptional grilling skills.
