The MITRE Corporation

MITRE is deploying innovative capabilities that intelligently leverage its enterprise information and digitally deliver it to users when it is most useful to them. To better assist overwhelmed staff, the non-profit designed and developed a system to push knowledge and action notifications to employees based on various trigger events. MITRE’s Donna Cuomo and Krista Groenwoldt share multiple “anticipatory knowledge delivery” use cases, including “role onboarding,” “project leadership operations,” and “enhancing findability.” With digital assistance and actionable intelligence, employees can learn and execute corporate processes more efficiently and understand what resources are available to them sooner, while management have insight into service utilization and knowledge attainment. One thing that all CDOs have in common is data. Huge amounts of data. Today, no matter the company or industry, data is being collected left and right. But why? The goal is to identify ways to monetize this information. However, finding that needle in the haystack or insight in a sea of numbers and figures is not as easy as it seems. What forms and channels should you explore? What are barriers and challenges you might experience? In this interactive session, be ready to share and explore best practices and strategies for monetizing your data for revenue generation and value creation.

Executive boardrooms are intimate and interactive sessions designed to foster dynamic dialogue around a specific, strategic topic. These private, closed-door discussions encourage attendee participation and are limited to 15 attendees (seating priority is given to CDOs or equivalent).

Boston's Hub-and-Spoke Approach to Enterprise Analytics

Andrew Therriault headshot

Andrew Therriault

Former CDO, City of Boston

As the City of Boston's first CDO, Andrew Therriault was tasked with scaling the use of data and analytics across an organization with more than 17,000 employees and over 60 departments. He quickly realized that his 20-person Analytics team would never be able to meet all of the city's data needs, but didn't want that constraint to turn into a bottleneck. The solution? A hub-and-spoke approach, in which a small central team provides infrastructure, training, and specialized expertise to support a much larger group of end users embedded in departments. Find out how Therriault's team developed and deployed this strategy, how it's paid off so far, and what lessons they learned along the way.

The CMO of erwin, Inc. facilitates this interactive discussion on the new data trinity of governance, security and privacy. Explore how to develop a data governance strategy that encompasses everything from politics to culture to create an enterprise data governance experience for discovering, understanding, governing and socializing data with greater context and control.
