Give us a brief overview of the path that led to your current role.

From the inception of my career, I have been part of global financial services. I later broadened my scope to include energy, telecom, and automotive industries as a management consultant.  Since coming back to financial services, I was able to find the junction between my passion for operational leadership and driving change through building and running data functions.

What is one of your guiding leadership principles?

Lead by example through passion, empathy, and empowerment.

With disruption being a key theme of the past few years, where do you see your role as a CDAO going in the next 1-2 years?

Data is the lifeblood of any organization. That appreciation is only increasing as our enterprises progress through their digital transformation journeys. As we look into the future, we can expect more organizations to seek Chief Data Officers who are able to blend technical knowhow with business expertise.

What advice would you give to someone just starting out in the role as a CDAO?

Think of yourself as a business leader, not as a data leader. We are not here to “do data”; our role is to enable business outcomes through the effective use of data and analytics.

Tell us a few fun facts about yourself.

  1. I am a wife, a mother, a friend, a colleague and each of these personas matter equally.
  2. I enjoy hot power yoga and hiking.
  3. I feel equally comfortable in an evening gown at a black-tie event as I do in camping gear in a tent in a forest.
