At Evanta, a Gartner Company, our fall season of CFO community gatherings is underway, and we’re excited to be hosting programs in San Francisco, Washington, DC, New York and Chicago over the next few months. Each community’s Governing Body has been working diligently to craft topical agendas for the upcoming programs, and financial leaders are eager to come together with their peers to make new connections, gain practical insights, and validate strategies.

Earlier this year, CFO community members participated in our Leadership Perspective Survey to indicate the top priorities and challenges they would like to discuss with their peers, and overwhelmingly, they are looking forward to addressing how to improve business processes and develop talent and leaders. They also expressed interest in utilizing data and analytics to drive efficiencies, optimizing costs, and, of course, learning more about the opportunities of generative AI.

Each community gathering is centered around these mission critical issues, and here is an inside look at some of the sessions members will be participating in this season:

  1. Mastering the Art of Leading Through Turbulent Times at the San Francisco CFO Inner Circle

In this keynote session, Joe Stephenshaw, Director of Finance for the State of California provides real-world examples of how he leads the finance function for the fourth largest economy in the world during persistent disruption. In addition, he will be sharing strategies for leveraging uncertainty for opportunity and growth, driving resilient cultures, and utilizing data-driven insights to make informed financial decisions.

  1. Effectuating AI and Automation Acceleration in Finance at the Washington, DC CFO Inner Circle

How can CFOs derive business value from AI and automation while mitigating potential risks? This is one of the biggest questions facing financial leaders today. Join the CFO for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, Vinay Vijay Singh, as he outlines an approach to AI that is inclusive of security and governance, shares how financial leaders can drive a culture that embraces advanced technology, and details how to measure success.

  1. Ahead of the Game – Tackling Tech in Finance at the New York CFO Executive Summit

Join this fireside chat as Christine Dorfler, CFO of the NFL, and Rick Davison, Managing Director and CFO at SMBC Group Americas discuss how financial leaders can harness cutting-edge technology and high-powered analytics to streamline operations at the enterprise level. This keynote conversation will explore use cases for AI, how to meet technology goals, and how to maximize ROI on new technology investments.

  1. Company Culture as a Strategic Strength at the Chicago CFO Executive Summit

The partnership between CFOs and human resources leaders has never been greater, and no one knows this better than Parts Town Unlimited’s CFO Lori Sherwood and Group VP, People & Culture Chelsea Fitzpatrick. In this breakout session, they will disclose how they continue to balance employees’ wishes with evolving business needs during tremendous growth and how financial leaders can create strong company cultures that increase organizational efficiency.

These sessions are just a sampling of what’s in store at the upcoming CFO community Inner Circles and Executive Summits. As the marketplace continues to be disrupted by economic uncertainty and technological advancements, it’s critical for leading industry CFOs to connect, share and learn from one another.
