2022 CDAO Leadership Perspectives

CDAO Views on Top Priorities and Opportunities
February 2022

With the growth in digital business, data and analytics leaders have a more important role than ever. CDAOs help drive digital initiatives, deliver timely and relevant insights, and enable smart decision making – all critical to the business.

Data and analytics leaders also impact value creation for their organizations, which is reflected in their number one enterprise priority for the year: driving growth. To do that, they will continue to drive their businesses toward data-driven decision making with data democratization, accessibility and trust across the organization.

More than 150 CDAOs from leading companies around the world indicated their most important 2022 priorities across the business, as well as within their own functional areas.

Goals for the Business

Driving growth is the number one priority for CDAOs at the enterprise level. Improving customer experience is second, followed by digital business acceleration.

Focusing on Data Governance

CDAOs reported that their top functional priority for 2022 is data governance, followed by creating a data-driven culture. With data sharing, availability and democratization coming in third, there is a theme emerging among data and analytics leaders around how to manage and protect data while also enabling the organization to use it effectively.

Goals & Challenges

With data governance as their top priority, data and analytics leaders shared their specific goals for governance initiatives and the challenges to achieving them.
