Topic #1: Extracting Business Value from ‘Big Data’
Challenge: Organizations are seeing compound annual growth in their data stores of 60%. Knowledge workers now report spending 1/3 of their time simply shifting through and analyzing data.
CEB research reveals that there are three keys inputs required for extracting business value from big data:
• Information Accessibility
• Information Usefulness
• Knowledge Worker Capability
This discussion will focus on understanding participant strategies associated with reaping greater business value from ‘Big Data’. The conversation will focus in particular on approaches to the two most difficult objectives: enhancing information usefulness and knowledge worker capability.
Topic #2: Adopting End-to-End IT Services
Challenge: In an effort to become responsive and flexible, 55% of CIOs in a recent CEB survey said they will offer at least some end-to-end IT services by the end of 2012. These services package together all the supporting people, processes, technology, and information to support a specific business activity and are delivered using resources that cut across IT's functional towers (e.g., Applications, Infrastructure). However, defining, deploying, and managing end-to-end IT services is a significant challenge for many organizations.
This discussion will focus on how participants are defining and implementing the concept of IT services, addressing challenges and thinking about the evolution of their services strategy over time.
